Five Reasons to Watch ‘The Price of Temptation’ (Featured Video)

Writer John Gardner once allegedly said that there are only two plots in literature: a stranger comes to town, and someone goes on a trip. The Price of Temptation combines the two. A couple goes on a trip, meets more than a few strangers, and rediscovers a sense of passion along the way. Read five reasons to check out this new relationship drama from European studio Dorcel.

A realistic relationship

Since every scene in a porn movie eventually ends up in the bedroom, porn couples sometimes seem in a state of perpetual lust. In The Price of Temptation, Dorcel presents a more realistic set of protagonists (Mariska X and Marcello Bravo). When we meet them, they’ve been married for many years. They have love, respect, and a desire to keep their relationship going, but the fire and urgency is no longer there. As the movie progresses, we witness several trenchant conversations between the two as they work out their insecurities and anxieties. They confess old sins, admit jealousies, and reveal surprising aspects of their own hang-ups and turn-ons. It may not be Scenes From A Marriage or Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, but it’s still effective drama, aided by strong casting from director Herve Bodilis.

Paris: city of romance

Paris’s association with star-eyed cinematic romantic is so well established at this point as to be a cliche. Dorcel is skilled at making such spots come alive, no matter how many times we’ve seen them. Mariska and Marcello choose Paris as the spot for their much-needed getaway, hoping the city’s charms will renew their dormant passion. The movie does not belabor the city’s most famous spots, preferring instead to allow it to be a subtler setter of background mood. It works its magic in scene one as Mariska and Marcello have sex in their hotel room, but even more exciting adventures are in store for them.

Mariska proving her point

To liven up their vacation, Mariska hires a masseur/masseuse team (Clara Mia and Alex Romero) for a his-and-hers rubdown. Interestingly, the movie eschews the usual “massage hookup” scene to pivot in a more original direction. Finding that they enjoy Mariska and Marcello’s company, Clara and Alex invite them to a nightclub later that evening. During an unguarded moment, Mariska tells Alex that she believes “Every woman is capable of seducing a man. You’re all too feeble.” Alex has his doubts, but Mariska proves him wrong by rolling into an exotic, erotic series of provocative comments. Each sweet syllable brings him more tightly into her grip. Reaching over to feel his increasingly obvious erection, she smiles softly as he admits she has proven her point. He’s so aroused that he induces girlfriend Clara to ask a friend home to join them in a threesome.

Mariska’s fantasy and climax

When Marcello realizes the entire Alex/Clara evening was a setup by Clara, the couple has a heart-to-heart. They work through past infidelities before deciding to be more candid about their fantasies and desires. Clara says she’d love to hook up with Alex, and Marcello admits he’s aroused at the thought of other men desiring her. Soon thereafter, Alex and Mariska have passionate sex while Marcello listens to it all from behind a closed door. Dorcel delivers a perfect climax to the scene as Alex blasts a thick, dripping load all over Mariska’s huge breasts. The movie derives much of its power from characters, style, and mood, but moments like this show that it can deliver classic hardcore visuals with equal skill.

Swinger finale

Mariska’s hookup with Alex arouses the couple’s senses and expands their sense of adventure. After Mariska and Marcello have sex once again (“I can still taste his cock in your mouth”), they decide to meet a swinger couple to wrap up their Parisian vacation. Clemence Audiard and James Duval are only too happy to introduce Mariska and Marcello to the bliss of group sex. These multi-couple sequences have always been a Dorcel strong suit, particularly when anchored by characters whose journey we’ve enjoyed joining them on.
